I am nearly finished working in my mini kawaii art journal. It was a very relaxing project to work on in the evening. The journal is getting a bit big for its britches so I probably put a bit too much paper in it. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future collage related art journals. This art journal has brought me back to my childhood scrapbooking days. I used to love scrapbooking, but I have since dismantled nearly all of my childhood scrapbooks because they take up too much space whenever we are moving. I’ve been thinking of ways that I can incorporate the aesthetic of these journal pages into my paintings. I would love to try and translate some of them into abstract oil paintings. I know that seems like a bit of a stretch, but I want to at least try it.

It’s kind of hard to believe that it’s almost December, it’s been unseasonably “warm” here (ie. we aren’t in a deep freeze buried in snow), and so in my mind it’s still fall. How about you, are you an early decorator? Are you all ready for Christmas?
