It’s been too long, friends! I don’t know where my motivation for this ol’ blog went, but I have been meaning to get back on here for a while. I made topic idea notes in my phone a few times, and then just didn’t get to it. There has been a lot going on lately, it’s been a pretty intense season and I just didn’t really know exactly how to process everything. I also spent some time just thinking and asking the Lord about what exactly He wants me to do with my business/art/blog, etc. I don’t know that I got that perfectly sorted out yet, but I do feel like showing up here is still important, and the art is certainly still important. And I feel like you just have to keep moving forward and He directs your path, and makes it straight when you get heading off down the rabbit trails.

I have been doing most of my art in bed at night lately. I haven’t had time or motivation to get any good studio time in for far too long, but that’s ok. I do miss painting, but I even do that in bed too sometimes. Thankfully my husband doesn’t mind! I did the above sketches in the morning while I was drinking my coffee and listening to my programs while it’s still dark out and the kids aren’t up yet. The sketches are just done in a tiny notebook using reference photos I printed from unsplash. I did all the drawings with gel pen, and it was definitely a challenge getting a good range of values, but it was fun to push myself and work on my drawing skills.

My husband and I have been going through our shop and garage downsizing all of the excess items, putting the decent items together to bring to auction, and packing up what we want to keep so that it’s ready to go when it’s time to move. We still don’t know many details about relocating yet, and it has certainly been a great challenge of my life for me to be patient in this area, but God has taught me so much through it all. I am so excited for all that He has in store for us, and I am so ready to move into the new season. That song “You Make All Things New” has been a staple for me lately.

I have been doing so much in my art journals lately, I’ll have to start photographing the spreads so I can share them here soon.
