Emerging from the Cocoon

Y’all, sometimes I feel like I’m from the stone ages when it comes to technology. I see all of these cute shorts on youtube and think, “oh, I can do that!” Meanwhile….I spent way too long yesterday evening and again this evening messing around with my video editor to get all the frames the right size and the photos and thumbnail and then figuring out how to have the thumbnail on the short, etc. etc. etc. However, it does feel good to have finally succeeded at uploading my first short, WITH a thumbnail, and without the big black borders it originally had. It’s the little things, truly. Anyways, I’m hoping I will remember all of these steps and will likely make a note in my phone for next time! I’d love to have any feedback and let me know how you feel about shorts, if they are something you watch. I have been watching way too many caricature shorts lately, and have been feeling inspired to start practicing some of my own.

I feel as though I’m finally, finally emerging from my long dark winter. In terms of weather, we just went through a cold snap last weekend which was in the range of -45 to -50 C for about 5 days. So emerging from that really did coincide with emerging from my personal winter season. It feels so good to feel hopeful again. And although we still have no idea about details for our future, when we will be moving, etc. God has been encouraging me through it in order to keep me going.

Some big lessons I have learned through this rather extensive period of wilderness is persistence and not always choosing the easy path. Life is hard. So we need to strengthen ourselves in order to take on the challenges and warfare that come our way regularly.

This whole process has been so humbling and I realize just how much I need God. It felt like such a roller coaster of emotions and not feeling equipped for whatever it is He has called me to do. But the biggest thing I have learned is to live close to His heart. It really is the answer to everything.

I hope you are blessed friends!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Wow! You’re short was very successful. Maybe I need to take some lessons from you! I know the feeling of it taking forever to learn and figure out how to do all the editing. Welcome out of the wilderness and your ling dark winter! It’s amazing how God teaches us and strengthens us during such hard seasons.

    1. You are a well of encouragement! Thank you, I’d be happy to answer any questions about how I made the video, definitely a lot of trial and error! And absolutely, I feel like there will continue to be layers of revelation as I come out of this fog. Praise God for His patience and willingness to do such necessary work in our hearts!
