Mini Journal Preview!

This is one of the first mini journals I created in the past week or so. As I shared earlier, after watching some tutorials from Roben-Marie Smith, I was super inspired to make some miniature versions of my handmade journals. With the larger journals, I was sewing the signatures together, but in Robin’s journals she was using gummed kraft tape. I was intrigued by the idea of a taped journal, for the simple fact that it seemed super quick and accessible to put together. I also enjoy the freedom mixed media offers– to have things a bit rustic and unfinished looking. My whole goal with my art the past year or so has been to loosen up, and making messy journals seemed to be a step in the right direction.

This is actually a junk journal but will likely be used as an art journal. In this particular style of journal, I used several different types of paper: maps, old artwork, completed journal pages, blank paper, textured paper, etc. I am also making another style of mini journal with completed journal pages taped and bound together, and I will share some of those on here as well. I have quickly become addicted to making these mini journals, sewing the covers, and making hand-painted pages to use inside the journals. So you will probably be seeing a lot more of this here!
