If you live in a place with deep winter, I believe it is essential to commemorate the spring and summer and fall months throughout the deep freezes to remind ourselves that, though hidden, the flowers and leaves are not lost. They will pop up again in spring, and delight our senses with their colors, patterns, and smells. Buzzing bees will happily flit from flower to flower, filling the air with a pleasant humming. The joyful sounds of children enjoying warm days can be heard in the distance. Water is misting lightly from the sprinkler head, dusting all the leaves with glitter. The squirrels run cheekily along the fence top carrying something you dropped. You sip your iced tea, wipe your brow, and plunge your hands back into the deep, rich soil, filling it with more colour and beauty in the shape of flowers.
